So what can a designer do for you that you can’t do for yourself?
1. Look at your project more objectively than you. After all, you live here and see it the way it is now. It is hard to change the picture in your mind. A designer can bring a fresh perspective to the project, listen to your wants and needs and combine these elements with the space available and produce a very practical and beautiful result.
2. Designers have access to the trades and knowledge of the latest trends, regarding colors, fixtures, furnishings and accessories that will make your space as up to date as you want it and at a price that fits your budget.
3. You have an advocate in your corner to smooth out the bumps in the project and make sure everything possible is done to make your renovation as comfortable and timely as possible.
Those are just 3 of the best reasons to hire a designer for your renovation project.
Here is another reason, sent to me by my friend Andrew…who didn’t know me when he hired a designer…but definitely agrees that we make a difference.
I wanted to tell you about my last condo. Before I took possession I had a professional designer design all of the rooms, the lighting and the furniture. It was great because the designer then contracted professional trades people that he knew would do a great job. And, he took me along to select the furnishings. All services that I know you offer.
Aside from the joy of living in a beautiful apartment, when I sold the condo there was a bidding war among 3 potential buyers. They all wanted the condo because of the professional design. The consequence was that the price rose $17,000 above asking and this when we were at the bottom of the recession and people were having trouble getting their asking price. The cost of the design was paid several times over.
Keep up the good work. It pays for your clients in many ways.
So get out there and at least have a consultation with a designer before you start your renovation! You will thank me later!
